It took place in Trumbull around 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15 in the area of the Monroe Turnpike.

According to Lt. Brian Weir, of the Trumbull Police Department, the crash occurred when an Infiniti collided with a Subaru Crosstrek on the Monroe Turnpike near the intersection of Monroe Turnpike, or Route 111, and Technology Drive.

Xavier Miller, age 22, of Bridgeport, the driver of the Infiniti, was killed, Weir said.

Arriving Trumbull officers located the two vehicles, which were both heavily damaged and the Infiniti was on fire, Weir said.

First responders were unable to access the burning vehicle to determine if there were any occupants in it, as the vehicle was also entangled with an electrical utility pole, he added.

Weir said medical aid was rendered to the female occupant of the Subaru, a Trumbull resident, and she was later transported to Bridgeport Hospital by Trumbull EMS, where she sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The Long Hill and Trumbull Center fire departments also responded and assisted with extinguishing the fire and securing the scene which spanned the intersection, police added.

Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact the Trumbull Police Department directly at 203-261-3665.
